Every Appliance Hookup

Dishwasher Install

Hot supply, drain into disposal or air gap, electrical (if you have a plug). Per local code on the air gap.

Washing Machine Hookup

Hot + cold supplies, drain to standpipe. Includes upgrade to braided stainless lines (cheap insurance vs rubber).

Refrigerator Ice-Maker Line

Run a 1/4" line from the cold-water supply to the back of the fridge. Saddle valves NOT used (they fail).

Gas Range / Cooktop Hookup

gas-line work. Flexible appliance connector, leak-tested, ignition verified on every burner.

Tankless / Heater Connection

Replacing a water heater that fed an existing appliance? We re-tie supply, drain, expansion tank, and recirculator if equipped.

Inspection-Ready Documentation

Photos of the hookup, parts list, and code-compliance notes. Helpful for resale or insurance.

Why Most Appliance Leaks Start at the Hookup

Four habits that prevent the slow drips behind your appliance.

Braided Stainless Over Rubber

Rubber washing-machine hoses are the #1 source of catastrophic appliance flooding; they fail without warning after 5–8 years. Braided stainless lines fail at 15–20+ years and cost a few dollars more.

  • Braided stainless on every hookup
  • No rubber lines on washer or dishwasher
  • Hose age noted in the invoice

High Loop or Air Gap on the Dishwasher

Local code requires either a high loop in the dishwasher drain OR an air gap on the counter. Either prevents disposal contents from siphoning back into the dishwasher. We install per code, every time.

  • High loop or air gap per local code
  • Drain secured at the loop’s peak
  • Inspection-ready

No Saddle Valves on Ice-Maker Lines

Saddle valves (the spear-shaped clamps on copper lines for ice-maker hookups) fail and drip. We use a proper tee fitting and shutoff valve so the ice-maker line can be isolated and serviced.

  • Tee + dedicated shutoff valve
  • PEX or copper line behind appliance
  • No saddle valves, ever

Gas Connection = Work

A gas-range hookup is work in most jurisdictions for good reason. We install with a code-rated flexible appliance connector, leak-test the fittings with a soap solution, and verify burner ignition before leaving.

  • Code-rated appliance connector
  • Soap-test on every joint
  • Burner ignition verified before sign-off

Appliance Hookup FAQ

Common questions about new-appliance hookups, what’s included, and code requirements.

I bought a new dishwasher. What do you need from me?
Have the dishwasher on site, leveling feet accessible, and the kitchen cleared so we can pull the old unit. We supply the supply line, fittings, drain hose, and high-loop hardware. If you’re missing the air gap on the counter and your code requires one, we’ll need to coordinate that with the countertop.
Should I replace my washing-machine hoses when I get a new washer?
Yes. We default to braided stainless. The cost difference vs rubber is a few dollars; the cost difference when a rubber hose fails (full-pressure flood from the cold supply, sometimes for hours before discovery) is thousands. Don’t reuse the old hoses.
How is a gas range hookup different from electric?
Electric hookup is plug-and-play (210/240V). Gas requires a code-rated flexible appliance connector to the gas-stub valve, with a leak test and ignition verification. Most jurisdictions require work on the gas connection.
Can I run my own ice-maker line?
You can; but skip the saddle valve (the small clamp-on valve sold with ice-maker kits). Saddle valves fail. Run a proper tee fitting with a shutoff valve into a 1/4" copper or PEX line. Or have us run it correctly during a kitchen-plumbing service.
How long does each hookup take?
Dishwasher: 1–1.5 hours. Washing machine: 30–45 minutes. Fridge ice-maker line: 45–90 minutes (depending on the run). Gas range: 60 minutes including leak test. Combinations get scheduled together where possible.
