Why Most Faucet Replacements Get Sloppy

Four steps that separate a tight install from one that drips inside the cabinet next month.

Update the Angle Stops

Most faucet leaks-after-install come from the old angle stops (under-sink shutoffs) that finally gave up after being moved. We replace them on every job; they’re cheap and they fail next.

  • Fresh angle stops on every install
  • New braided supply lines
  • Both shutoffs tested under pressure
Replacing aged angle stops as part of the install.

Pop-Up Drain Done Right

Bathroom faucets come with a pop-up drain assembly that’s easy to install crooked. We bed the drain in plumber’s putty (or silicone where required), align the linkage, and verify the seal before final tightening.

  • Putty / silicone bedding correct
  • Linkage tuned for full open & close
  • Tested for slow leaks before we leave

New Sink? Coordinate the Cutout

A new sink may not fit the existing cutout; especially when going from drop-in to undermount or different bowl dimensions. We measure first, coordinate any cutout work, and don’t cut into the countertop blind.

  • Measure before pulling the old sink
  • Cutout coordination if needed
  • No surprise countertop modifications
Measuring before any sink swap begins.

Pressure-Test Before Leaving

Run the faucet hot and cold for 5 minutes, check every connection point, dry the cabinet floor, and check again 10 minutes later. Most slow leaks show up there.

  • 5-minute pressure run
  • Wipe-and-recheck after settling
  • Walkthrough with the homeowner

Sink & Faucet FAQ

Common questions about replacement timing, customer-supplied fixtures, and what’s included.

How long does a faucet replacement take?
Bathroom faucet: 60–90 minutes including pop-up drain. Kitchen faucet: 75–120 minutes. New sink + new faucet: half day. Time grows when angle stops are seized or supply lines need to be re-routed.
Can I install a faucet I bought myself?
Yes. We install customer-supplied faucets and sinks at the same labor rate. Have the unit on site, in the box, with all included parts (mounting hardware, supply lines, instructions) when we arrive.
Do I need to replace the supply lines and shutoff valves?
Strongly recommended. Old braided lines and angle stops are usually 10–15+ years old by the time you replace the faucet; and they’re the most common source of post-install leaks. Both replace in 10 minutes.
Should I install a new sink myself?
Drop-in sinks are usually doable for a confident DIYer. Undermount or farmhouse sinks need coordination with the countertop and are easy to crack or seal incorrectly. Worth the labor to have done.
Will you haul away the old faucet and sink?
Yes. Old faucets, sinks, and any plumbing parts go with us at no extra charge.
